We are located 300 miles north of Los Angeles in the beautiful Town of Mammoth Lakes. A seasonal picture of the area is shown above is of the winter cross country track located in the Lakes Basin, just above town
The Town of Mammoth Lakes is a sustainable resort located in the majestic Eastern High Sierra, at the southern most tip of District 5190. It is located off of US Highway 395, 45 miles north of Bishop
Although we are a resort, we also are a community of 8,000 full time residents that houses 80% of its work force. We are very proud of our Town and the many projects that our club has organized to make it more beautiful.
Our Town is 4 square miles right in the middle of the Inyo National Forest. We are a gateway community to Yosemite National Park. In the winter we host over 1,500,000 skiers, with twice as many guests in the summer.
We are currently meeting at noon on the second Thursday of the month at the Mammoth Brewing Company (Downstairs), 18 Lake Mary Road and using a Zoom platform. Contact Lois Klein at loistklein@gmail.com to arrange attending the meetings.
We're situated at the base of magnificent snow-covered peaks that rise more than 14,500 feet above sea level. At 8,050 feet elevation, we are the highest Rotary Club in the U.S. We are home to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, a World Class Mountain, and one of the nation's largest and best ski and snowboard playgrounds.
Fifteen Rotary past presidents continue to live in our community. Some are still members.
In addition to working with Rotary International to eradicate polio and provide relief to the many victims affected by disasters worldwide, our club provides scholarships to local students for their college tuition, funding to Mammoth Hospital, Disabled Sports, Chamber Music Unbound, Eastern Sierra Land Trust, Mammoth Football, Mammoth Middle School, Mammoth Schools' Music Program, and many more worthy groups and organizations. We also provide manpower to complete many projects for public recreation, such as the shelter at Shady Rest Park, the laying of new sod at Mammoth Creek Park, building a student paved patio area at the Mammoth Lakes High School, assemble the replacement playground at Mammoth Creek Park, the semi-yearly Adopt-a-Highway cleanup and we have worked with 3 other Rotary Clubs to complete the construction of handicapped accessible rest facilities at Convict Lake.
We welcome you to our town. Please stop by and enjoy lunch and fellowship with our club at one of our meetings. You can also link to other organizations on the Home Page.
