The World Affairs Seminar

The World Affairs Seminar is dedicated to the advancement of international goodwill and peace through a better understanding of world problems.  In June of 2007, high school student from North America and international exchange students from throughout the world will spend a week on the campus of the University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, studying and discussing global issues at the World Affairs Seminar.  The purpose of this very unique youth activity is to provide a forum for future leaders to be introduced to some of the most perplexing world problems, with the hope of dramatically contributing to future world peace.

This year, the Mammoth Lakes Noon Rotary Club is sponsoring and sending three local students to the seminar.  They are Angel Vogel from Coleville High, Kelsey Northington from the Eastern Sierra Academy in Bridgeport, and Silvia Escobar from Mammoth High School.  We are looking forward to a descriptive debriefing from the students at one of our Rotary lunches this summer.  In years past, we have sponsored students who claim to have had their lives redirected and radically changed by their experiences at the World Affairs Seminar.
